The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has taken a bold step in fortifying its stance against corruption by inaugurating its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). The ceremony, officiated by representatives from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), underscores NDIC’s unwavering commitment to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability.
Mr. Bello Hassan, NDIC’s Managing Director, emphasized the corporation’s zero tolerance for corruption, anchored on its core values including integrity, professionalism, and passion. The inauguration was represented by Mr. Mustapha M. Ibrahim, Executive Director of Operations, who highlighted the significant enhancement of NDIC’s operational systems through rigorous compliance measures such as robust internal controls, regular risk assessments, and comprehensive employee training programs.
The establishment of the ACTU is described as a milestone in NDIC’s continuous fight against corruption, promising to bolster the corporation’s efforts in maintaining a corruption-free environment and solidifying public trust.
Compliments also came from the ICPC, with Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, represented by Mr. Olusegun Adigun, lauding NDIC for its proactive stance and the ACTU’s commendable performance, which has earned the corporation top marks in the ICPC Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard for two consecutive years. He encouraged the newly appointed ACTU members to uphold and build upon the legacy of their predecessors in promoting NDIC’s core values and combating corruption.
